Sports Injuries

Sports related injuries are far more common than meets the eye and involve more challenging areas of personal injury law, not least including the issue of whether the person suffering the injury has somehow “consented to it”.

The consent issue arises from the fact that some sports, such as rugby, boxing and football, by their very nature will involve a significant degree of physical contact and with that must come a risk of injury.

However, in circumstances where the actions of 1 or more individuals go well beyond the accepted norms or laws of the game or activity in question, this is where claims for personal injury are possible and, depending on the evidence, may succeed. In addition to the direct actions of individuals in contact sports, sport related injuries can also include, for example, i juries caused by negligence of those in authority, in allowing sport to be undertaken in unsafe or hazardous conditions. Everybody participating in sports and pastimes has a duty to take reasonable care and failure in this duty can result in a potential claim for compensation.

Whilst sport injury claims are often not as straightforward as some other injury claims in legal terms, our experience means we can fully assess your possible claim and based on that assessment perhaps offer you a no win no fee agreement which is a clear indication of our confidence in your case.
